According to records, in 1591 troops of the monarch invaded Aragón to quell the uprising of several nobles fighting in the name of Antonio Pérez, the royal secretary, and as a means of repression, Juan de Lanuza, the Chief Justice of Aragón, the “paradigmatic military law representative”, was executed without trial and his head put on display for all the terrified people to see. Ribagorza County suffered military action, "with Fonz in the eye of the hurricane..."
